HP 2133 Mini-Note PC arrives!!

All thanks to the folks at Starhub, I received a HP 2133 Mini-Note PC about two days back upon signing away two years of my home broadband life with them. Although I am initially impressed with its small, lightweight, metallic and sleek form giving that expensive executive laptop feel, I can’t seem to figure out why HP chose to install the ever so resource intensive Windows Vista Basic on their tiny VIA C7®-M ULV Processor 1.2 GHz and just 1 GB ram.

Woah don’t get me wrong, I am happy to receive this nice little free gift from Starhub and heck I appreciate HP’s involvement (somehow) with the deal. Its just that I find it frustrating at times to wait forever to boot up, wait for another eternity for a program start and then another endless waiting for the shut down process. However, to be fair, I am comparing my HP 2133 to my not-so-new Macbook, which honestly is not much of a challenge. I am not about to go into specifics or a mini review for the fear that this might end up to be a complain article which I am always trying to avoid. Adding to that, I don’t want to seem ungrateful for this gift.

I guess as Ultra Mobile PC or UMPC goes, it is not exactly the workhorse I am looking for. But I can see myself sipping that cup of java at some Starbucks or some coffee joint while typing furiously on this “workpony”. Moving on, I think I am going to downgrade this baby to a Windows XP instead….yeah… ;)
