Lyn (my boo) and I headed to the floating platform at the Marina Bay a few weeks back all thanks to my lovely colleague Sharon who scored us a pair of tickets to this year’s Singapore Fireworks Celebrations 2008. Armed with my old but loyal Nikon D70, I so eagerly wanted to capture some of the displays given that it has been quite a while sinceI shot fireworks.
Massive jam, crowded atmosphere and lack of parking spaces aside, Lyn and I managed to get there about a good half hour before the fireworks began. A quick purchases of ‘before-dinner-snacks’ and a truly embarrassing moment for me (long story) later, we found ourselves at a nice cozy spot at the top and waited for the displays from France. It was really lovely.
To be honest, after a few years of photography absence, I got a little rusty with my camera settings. Thankfully, KP and Kun managed to advise me the right settings via SMS prior to the display. Although I did miss the first few minutes, the rest turned up pretty okay.

Not bad for a rusty D70. Kun and KP can start a SMS-for-photography-tips company! Great shots!
Hehe….well its all about getting the right exposure and equipment for fireworks…..and the rest is just down to timing and a bit of luck (weather etc etc). Cheers bro glad you had fun!
Great photos. I wish I were there – they look unlike any other fireworks that I’ve seen. So much overlapping action. How long was the entire display? Thanks for sharing them with us.
Nice photographs lah bro. I wish I could take such good photographs for fireworks.
Len: You can propose that idea to KP and Kun tho…heh
KP: Sure glad I got my tripod man..but my lens not wide enough..D700 anyone? Wahahah!!
It was fun tho…the only problem was getting back to the car park…crowded…aye..
Marta Wiechowska: Hi thanks for visiting. Well actually I shot it in raw and did some editing using Nikon Capture DX..one heck of a powerful software if I may add…
I guess the reason why the firework streaks were so pronounced was probably because I used the software to axe the smoke. The display was about 20mins or so I reckon…
Brudder Walter: hmm..may I interest you in a DSLR and tripod
