Odd tan after the 18th

After years of avoiding the green, Tian managed to convince me that unless I start playing golf on a real turf, I can’t really improve. Sure, that may be something I have known all along but I have always maintained my stubborness for a long long time…till today.

We headed to Ria Bintan, about an hour ferry ride from Singapore for a round of golf. The day was prefect…very sunny and quite windy. Once we started our 18-hole journey from the 10th hole, I thought I was able to conquer the challenging course with much success (yeah..boastful me). C

oming from a person who has not been to a green for years, I guess I was doing well. I was able to get my ball straight and pretty centre and was smiling from ear to ear from the 10th to the 18th.

It was when we started teeing off from 1st to the 9th hole after lunch when everything went downhill. My ball went everywhere but far and straight. It was really really really frustrating. But thanks to the encouragement of Tian and his two friends, I was able to survive the rest of the 9 holes without a great deal of cussing and hey…we played four more holes. However, I have to admit that the day ended well despite losing about 13 golf balls and my temper. I got a nice red tan around my arms, except my left hand (guess why) and nice lighter toned sunglass shaped spot around my eyes…damn Oakleys. Leaving back for Singapore, I played the role of a camera slut behind the camera and shared pictures that I took of the guys during the day with promises that we will return…but seriously…not any time soon ;) Damn my neck hurts!!

A really nice ocean view at the 8th hole. Oh btw, this shot was staged…yeah..camera sluts

Another nice ocean view at the 9th hole.

The right nut

My team mates were right. Whenever I try to take my basketball game up a notch or two, I get either injured or wounded. Seriously!! Just days back when my team Spartans were playing against the league leader PV Crew, I got kneed in the groin while trying to take a charge. Yeah…OUCH!!

I told my team mate Sy Yuan that the injuries and wounds seem to find me instead. Most of the time, the pain was inflicted by someone else.So after breaking both my wrists, walking on crutches on three separate occasions, twisting my ankles and thumbs for about a hundred times, war scars on my legs and arms and other injuries I can’t recall…I am still going back for the love of the game ;) Now where’s my ball? (pun intended)

What the heck just happened?

I’m back finally!! Two nights ago, I tried acccessing my jBlog only to find out that the site was down. I emailed the hosting company uging them to rectify the problem fast but they have somehow disappeared. My email to them bounced and their site was down as well.

For a moment, I thought I had been swindled big time. But to cut the long story short, they got back to me a little over 48 hours later only to apologise and promised that it would be up soon. Yeap…I finally got my site back about 10mins ago. Don’t mean to bitch but a two-day down time for your site could be really damaging, especially if its your company’ site…GRRRR….

Think I might have sinned

Seriously, I think I might need to go for confession. I might be cheating in golf. Why? I took my Callaway Big Bertha Heavewood 5H for a range session at Bishan with Kun yesterday and have never seen myself driving so consistently. The club is so forgiving that every drive takes my ball straight and a little under 150m. I mean it went so far, so straight, so often and so effortlessly that I think I might be cheating…SERIOUSLY!!

But I don’t think I am apologising anytime soon. I am beginning to budget myself for two Cleveland Halos to replace my 3W and 3 iron (my golf enemies). I had the pleasure of testing them out when Tian purchased them a couple of months back. Yeah…gonna spend more money :p

Kudos to Callaway for building such a steady hybrid.

I got Heavenwood

Wait…before you think I am being rude…I really do have a Heavenwood…a Callaway Big Bertha Heavenwood that is. Think of it as a club that is a cross between a wood and an iron…nothing but forgiveness. Yes!! I have tested one…;)

I picked up the club today to replace my 5 iron which I have been having great problems with…you see…it travels the same distance as my 7 iron. Hoping to get more distance using my 5 iron, I got the 5H series that has a 26 degree loft…same as a 5 iron. So what next? Bringing the baby out and rip some balls. Ooo baby!!

Range at the bay

Tian and I took to the new driving range at the Marina Bay a few hours back. The pace is really breezy, balls and driving mat are new and the lady selling the tokens is really cute. So yeah…you may think that these had all the makings of a great golfing session…sigh…HOW WRONG!!

Think disaster. Our balls went everywhere but straight and far…and to think we are preparing ourselves to hit the green in Bintan next week. I so need more practice.

Go check out their website…and yeah they have a golf course too!!

My boy is hitched!!

Yeap, after knowing Tian for a little over ten years, the dude and his boo finally registered yesterday at a really nice Chinese Restaurant (food was good!!).I had the honour of being his photographer while the couple exchanged rings.

One thing I have learnt while taking wedding photos though…slouching don’t make you look too good in photos. Sit up straight dude!! Now go get a baby or something…and oh..congratulations ;)

It closes?

This is one rare image right here. I decided to pop by 7-11 at Newton MRT at about 1am only to find it closed. YOU MEAN IT ACTUALLY CLOSES? Wonder what their new slogan will be like..hmmm…

Go Spartans!!

What a joy watching my team play. Sitting at the sideline on Saturday fighting the flu bug (sigh!!), my team, the Spartans played against a stronger Kampong Bullets, a team boasting of ex-constituency, school, community centres and junior semi-professional league players.
As much as I hate to admit it, I thought that we heading for another loss, making it out 3rd straight (yeah…bad boy!!). However, the Spartans were able to rally together and never trailed since the early stages of the game and ended with a 4 pt win.  Truely, I am proud of the brudders. They have certainly taken the game to another level. GO SPARTANS!!
Being the team webmaster, brand manager and photographer, I fished out my DSLR and fired away from under the rim. I mean since I can’t play, I have to make myself useful right? So allow me to sell my koyok…do check out the photos here :) .
And hey!! Go go go visit my team’s website at http://www.sgspartans.com. Once I am cured from the nasty flu bug, I hope I will be able to make it for next week’s game versus the Cav_Warriors, a team with a deadly center (~cross fingers~). We have never beaten them since meeting them in the last season, but I am really looking foward to this Saturday.

It’s up!!

After purchasing www.jason.sg since January last year, I finally got around linking it to a server and my blog.
Why the delay? Well according to the Singapore regulation that hands out anything that ends with “.sg”, your hosting company would need to provide you with both IP Addresses and Nameservers. Only with that, you can successfully connect your server to your domain name. Unfortunately, I had earlier purchased a package from Canada that only gives out Nameservers and not IP Address. Hence, I had to wait before my package expires while using another domain, www.flightskool.net.
So yeah!! Happy me :) . What’s coming up? Publishing samples of one of my many passions…photography!! Ooooo baby!!
