The wonders of wireless technology

It never fails to amaze me how we have come a long way in terms of IT technolgy. I am currently at Harbour Front’s Subway having my lunch while waiting for my idiot friend who promised to be here like two world wars ago.

While fiddling with my lovely Palm TX, I was plesantly surprised to discover that Subway actually set up a wireless network for customers to surf as they chew on the one footer.

So I am now happily blogging this article making another milestone in my blogging experience. However, my happiness was shortlived while replying to previous post comments. Apparently KP and Fel are giving me a heck of a beating with toe sucking, alocohol and a bunch of explict things you don’t wanna know. YOU GUYS SUCK..but I still got love for ya!!

A muffler, six wires and a box

Its amazing to know that there are a number of things you could do to accessorise your car and at the same time, trying to keep it legal. Moving on after seeing the nice stalk of rose on a Beamer last Saturday, I approached an ICE (In Car Entertainment) shop with hopes of getting a good deal for whatever I am looking for to accessorise. Yup, I must admit that one can get lost if you are stuck with a budget as tight as my old belt and a bag full of ‘zhng’ing’ dreams.

While looking through the good stuffs, I decided to get a little simple and picked up a nice looking sports muffler to extend my current one. Think KP will call this an erection, considering that he has a filthy filthy mind (ala he said she said)..but lets move along.

Next up was grounding…something I have always wanted to do for my Chevy. I was told by a friend that grounding your car with a voltage stabilser not only prevents your power hungry accessories from frying up, but it also keeps your battery life longer. Being the closet ‘ah beng’ that Fel has always been addressing me as, I figured the one with the electric blue cables could be ideal for my Chevy.

However, I was also told that the voltage stabiliser I chose was also the most expensive…now why do nice looking things have to be so expensive? Damn you designers!! But erm..did that stopped me from getting the nice electric blue cables?

No freaking way!! Electric blue it is!! In fact, I had a six-point grounding instead of a four-point. And hey, the voltage stabiliser lights up as well..now how tight is that?

Now apart from all these erm..necessities, I managed to get a console box eariler from an ah beng where I mounted between the two front seats. Apparently, the nice guys at Chevy were so busy branding the Korean American car that they have forgotten to include something which I feel is necessary for any car..i.e. the console box. I mean where can I put my freaking left elbow while steering? However, being the nice guy that I am, their lack of details are quickly forgiven.

Yeah it took me a while to find something that fits the interior and this is good enough for me. Would love to tell you more of what I did to my car but I am going to leave that for tomorrow. Tune in another 24 hours for my second installment of what I did to my car, and this time, it involves lights.

Awwww…how shweeeet!!

Popped over to Sin Ming last Saturday to see what kind of good stuffs I can ‘zhng’ my car with. While crossing the carpark to get to the ‘zhng my car shops’, I noticed a stalk of flower nicely clipped onto the windshield wiper of a parked white Beamer.

I figured that was a nice gesture and quickly developed the following conclusions:

  • Dude loves lady so much and decided to surprise her…gonna get some that night.
  • Dude is sorry for what he has done to lady and wants to apologise for being a bastard…and if all goes well…he is gonna get some that night.
  • Dude saw cheap flower for sale and figured he might as well buy a stalk for lady…so he can get some that night.
  • Dude spikes the smell of the flower so when lady takes a sniff, lady will give him some that night.

Yeah I do apologise for my lack of imagination as you can clearly see a distinct similarity in all my suggested conclusions…i.e. the flower is bought by a dude for a lady. Oh well, maybe I should go borrow the Art of Seduction from King Pansy (KP) and see how I can develop more interesting conclusions…hmmm…

Struggle no more

Phew…I finally ended my three-day course on speed reading at the Civil Service College today. Two reasons why i attended this course:

  • I have been so interested about this speed reading crap eversince I first saw some commercial on it on “Sellavision”.
  • I needed to get the f**k out of my office for a while. Don’t think I can stand being there for a the time being.

As a skeptic, I was rather cautious when the classes begin. We started off with benchmarking to see our current status and somehow I was not surprised when I was classified as the ‘Struggling Reader’ with the reading efficiency of 121.

The rest of the classes had some drills and theory/practical lessons on speed reading and learning. Although I was able to do a little speed reading, I had some problem retaining the information and get so lost whenever I needed to answer questions. But after some encouragement from my lecturer and of course knowing that I tend to be slow (probably from the lack of beer), I was able to get better as time passes.

To cut the long story short, I was given a short story titled “The Pearl” and managed to finish up the 90-page long book in just 15 mins with an information retention of 70%-80%. That is around 2000 words per minute. How is that for a slacker?

However, I can’t stop here…or so says my lecturer. I would need to do some reading drills and scan through some papers, books and magazines in order for me to achieve the maximum potential of what my brain can provide…which is not much but one can try yeah?

Anyhoo…I am seriously looking forward to my newly found speed reading skills and hope that one day, I can hit a nirvana stage of reading or something. Meanwhile, I will just stick to drills.

Jaded!!

I met up with Tian and two of his friends this evening at the Marina Bay Driving Range. As usual, our game needs major improvement and we were just sighing after every hit.

However, apart from our oh-so-horrible swings, I noticed that the four of us have this similar expression on our faces. I can’t seem to explain it but one thing I know for sure is that it is not golf-related. I mean yeah we know..we suck at golf..so that is out of our system. But there is this unhappy and weary aura that seem to linger around us the whole night.

I asked one of Tian’s friend Vincent on why the sad face and the sighing while posing a question if it was his job. He answered that the job is just so-so and added that people our age seem to be pretty much jaded.

It didn’t take long for me to realise that I too am in this situation. It got me thinking if people our age have become a jaded generation. Have we became so weary of life? And why the f**k does it have to happen to us? As I questioned myself, I tried to fill the empty pieces in my life with whatever joy or hopes that I can scrap from under my barrel of life.

Woah…just in case if you think I am getting to a point near suicide or a quarter-life crisis (whatever that is)…I’m not. Everything seems to be going fine right? I got a job, there is always food on the table and clothes on my back…I am in a midst of a wonderful relationship (and u guys know it), I got a great family and very supportive friends…hey..the list just goes on. But why am I weary?

As I sit and contemplate, I hope to find an answer to my question on being jaded. Not sure how long will I take, but I hope to find it real soon. However, allow me to inject some humour…I think I am not drinking enough…KP would agree with me yah?

Steve and ESPN

Alrightee…I don’t normally embed videos in my blog especially when its back to back with a previous post but this one is a keeper.  I was checking out ESPN Sports Centre’s commercial on You Tube when I came across with one on Steve Irwin (God rest his soul).

As usual with humour injected, this commercial has Steve wrestling with the mascot from the University of Florida…which erm..by the way is a gator?  Considering that the dude is gone and I have not blogged about him (and that the whole world has), I figured I should contribute too…peer pressure..think Fel knows how that feels like :p

Flintstones and Winston

Was surfing around YouTube when I came across this 1961 Winston Cigarettes commercial endorsed by the Flintstones. Guess this is a something you don’t see everyday eh?

Diarrhoea sucks!!

Entering into my second day of stomach/gastric flu, I can’t help but wonder if the damn charcoal pills I got at the Guardian Pharmacy actually works.  I have been to the toilet so many times that I think they gave me member’s privileges.

My only consolation is that I am on medical leave and had a really good sleep…especially when it is raining…niceeeee :p

iNoJealous

Ever have one of those backside itchy moments where you chanced upon an online test you feel you should take while surfing online? Uh-huh…thats me this morning.

Stoning with a coffee in my hand and my mouse on the other, I was at Team Chevy Sg website checking out some new things I can do to trick out my ride and the next thing I knew, I was doing some test on jealously (can you see the relation?) Yeah…like I said..backside itchy moment.

Good news is that I am 20.63% jealous while the average jealously percentage is at 35.54%. The comments on my jealously rate are:

  • I have very few jealous traits.
  • I rarely over-react and have a handle on the severity of situations.
  • Whatever jealous attributes I do have will not present a problem in relationships, and will sometimes help.

Yeah I rock!! Of course I am doing it according to my current relationship with my boo, Lyn. I was wondering how it would be if I was doing it sometime early last year with my ex-fiancee. It could run as high as over 50% considering how dodgy she became as our relationship was coming to a close…yeech!! Guess people do change don’t they, never ever let them tell you that they will won’t…its all a load of bull!! Anyhoo..big thanks to my friends who were there for me when times were bad.

The season for modification…

I was pretty much tossing and turning in bed last night and couldn’t get to sleep until around 2am or so. Figured the temporary insomnia was attributed to the late night coffee I had with my ex-colleauge KS and the disturbing video KP (All hail King Pansy) showed me last night which got very deeply lodged inside my head.

Coffee aside, the video that KP (Crown the King Pansy) showed me had something to do with…well…’zhng’ing’. Yeah I may be in the season for ‘zhng’ing’ my ride to something close to Tokyo Drift if my wallet permits but woah…not bodily parts!! What the f**k is wrong with people nowadays?

Totally not going to tell you what the video is all about since it is and has traumatised me and perhaps will continue for the next few years unless reality TV takes another nose dive and produce something else more disturbing…but I seriously won’t be holding my breathe.

Anyhoo, lets say I will not be ‘zhng’ing’ my E-Brake shaft or anything long for the time being. Gonna stick to round stuffs like rims and steering wheels.

Yeech!! Way to go KP (Down with King Pansy)…u warped my frail mind!! :p
