RRR…

This is totally wicked awesome. I was going home from work yesterday when I passed by a playground in my estate and was pleasantly surprised to see a recycling bin there. Yeap that is right, guess the town council or waste management people finally woke their asses up and did the right thing by encouraging us to reduce, reuse and recycle.

Time to get another bin separate junk from recyclables, cause the Ho family is going to start recycling.. :)

Mackers for breakfast

I got a surprise call from my security counter early yesterday morning at work telling me that there is a package for me to pick up and no I can’t wait till afternoon or my next break to drag my fat ass down to do so.

So yeah being the lazy man that I am, I reluctantly left my cubicle and the tumult of office work on the 23rd floor and headed to the first thinking that whatever that package was, it better be reeeeaaaal good. There at the security counter, I was greeted by a MacDonald delivery guy who handed me a breakfast pack. Yes it was a pleasant surprise (coz its food right?) and was even more pleasantly surprised to learn that Lyn (my boo) got me a nice breakfast from MacDonalds.

I guess it was because she knew I was trying my best to lose weight by going on low carbo diets and less meat (oh God kill me now) and figured its time to reward me with a nice breakfast. Yeap, the festive season’s beef had gotten me so fat and I could have sworn I look like a cow from some angles…but that is another story..which I won’t be blogging about anyways.

But you know what made the breakfast taste even better? Jealous colleagues wondering why their other half don’t give them the same treatment. This is oh so sweet…okay enough bragging for today…

65 incher

The bunch of us Club 624ers popped over to Ian and Eva’s home to christen their newly purchased and installed Bang and Olufsen system. If you are thinking that they bought those more economical models like a 24 inch flat screen with a simple player and speaker systems..you might want to throw that idea out of the window.

Our beloved couple hooked up their entire house with three or four floors of state of the art and new models B&Os. This would probably mean that they have now “spoil the market” and any other entertainment system that we see in the current market would really suck…big time.

As we went through the list of what they have purchased, two things caught my mind. One was a pair of UFO typed speakers that runs 500w and four amps per speaker and..check this…a 65 inch plasma.

Not small man..really not small

That’s right all 65 inch of pure entertainment…and the first thought that came in my mind when I saw it was…”Not small man”. Yeap…I stand corrected…every other entertainment system would probably now suck. Now if you excuse me, I am going back home and spit on my 21 inch TV in my room and whine about how tough my life can be since I can’t afford a good entertainment system…

Retreat to Batam

If there is one thing I like about my divisional retreats apart from the amount of food available, it would be the activities. And this year’s activity for our retreat in Batam is the nice one-hour pampering and massage in my own personal villa. Oh yeah…think I will take up their offer on a nice three-hour package one day.

Erm..no specials by the way..u perverts… :P

Yeah I got me own villa..too bad it was raining tho..or else it would be totally sweet!!

Going pet friendly

Yeah I am kinda pissed off. Lyn (my boo) and I were turned away at a cafe in Holland Village last week because we brought our two dogs along. Considering that I have never been a dog owner, I was rudely awakened and the next thing I knew…I left in the half with half a mind to flick them.

After much research online, I learnt that restaurant owners need to get a permit from the government to allow pets into their restaurants/cafes. And what caught me by surprise is that the agency in charge of approving such permits belong to my statutory board under my ministry. I guess this is probably one of those low key information that didn’t get much media attention which might have attributed to my ignorance. Oh well…

Still in the subject on my quest to bring our dogs to pet friendly eating establishments, I surfed further online and picked up some places that not only allow dogs into their areas to eat but serve pet food as well. So the very next day, we brought them to Urban Pooch at Balestier for some outdoor fun and were so impressed that we are seriously considering bringing them there on a weekly basis.

Just an FYI for pet owners. If you are looking for a list on where to bring your dogs and not be turned away by those damned restaurant/cafe Nazis…check out this list I picked up from GGGRRR. Let me know if this needs updating yah?

Qing Ting

Well I finally did it. After a night of Texas Holdem at Ian and Eva’s place, Lyn (my boo) and I joined my colleague whom I addressed as “Shaggy” in Phuture and then to Dragonfly at St. James Power Station.

Yup you read it right…I visited the ol’ Canto and Ah Beng’ish Dragonfly. We were quite reluctant to party there initially but considering that I won’t be seeing my colleague for the next few weeks due to an overseas trip and ICT, we figured we might as well join him just for a little while.

Upon entering Dragonfly, I could have sworn that I was watching a “Ge Tai” during the Hungry Ghost Festival. We have a singer named William Scorpion wearing a white singlet bearing his tatoo singly wholeheartedly and cringing away (but that could probably be me) accompanied by a tattooed bare bodied guitarist playing away with screaming fans trying to touch him. If that ain’t all wrong, an old Ah Lian was also present to sing a duet or two with William Scorpion and entertaining the crowd between and during songs. Yup, it can’t get any better or worse than that..depending on how you see it.

However, I must admit that I couldn’t understand a word that the entertainers were saying or singing. Its not the articulation but rather my horrible Mandarin language skill (or rather the lack of it). Anyhoo, we still stayed on for about two hours or so with our mouths opened wide in amazement before heading home.

Yes it is an experience for me but I think I would not be heading there anytime soon. Too canto, too Ah Beng, too cheena…no go for me man. Will stick to the Bellini Room for the mean time.

Yeah, its like a freaking “Ge Tai”
