CoolIris lives up to its name

As my friends always say “Good stuff must share (or else you go to hell)”. So yeah here I am trying to escape the fiery and very much malodorous Abaddon and perhaps build enough karma points so I can at least go to to Purgatory (not that I believe it it anyways) if I don’t make it to Heaven.

Alrightee, crap aside. I updated my Firefox browser on Saturday, which if you haven’t already gotten it (please for the love of all things good and pure), go download it here, it is so much better than Internet ‘f**king’ ~~Exploder~~ Explorer. The thing I love about Firefox is the number of plugins, extensions and themes you can stash on it and I so happen to chance upon this really free wicked extension called CoolIris.

Basically it is a preview browser within your Firefox and all you need to do is to (1) mouse over a link and (2) mouse over the icon beside it and BAM!! a preview browser will launch and you can check out what’s within that link without leaving your page (did I mention it is free?). Don’t get me? Okay okay, check out this screenshot:

See that little browser thingy there? And to make things even better for the ‘ol CoolIris (did I mention its free?), you can even mouse over a video like YouTube and the preview will launch just the video itself. This means that you do not need to click on the link, let the entire page load before you can view the f**king video:

So are you sold with that extension yet? (Did I ever mention it is free?) But wait there is more!! (I sound like a freaking salesman here) The extension allows you to share those links to your friends without you firing up your email client or logging in to your web mail (which is such a bitch for lazy but cute people like me). But but…wait…there IS still more!! There is even a CoolIris Search for words through Wikipedia, Google, The Free Online Dictionary. Just highlight the text in question, right click and search through the CoolIris Search.

So yeah, here you go. The free (oh you lovely lovely thing) extension CoolIris. Go download it, “extend’ it and enjoy your preview. I am so gonna majorly surf tonight. No calls please, I am busy…

Guess it was the CNY holidays

It was last Wednesday after an enjoyable (but short) Chinese New Year holiday when I returned home from work and noticed this recycling bin:

This scene did disturb me a little considering that my statutory board has always been pushing for recycling in Singapore. I did a quick check and noticed that the items are for recycling which got me wondering “Why isn’t anyone cleaning this up?” Although I did had half a mind to give them a call them for a heads up, I had to put that off for a while as I needed to prepare for my golf game on Thursday.

So Friday came and while I was on my way home, I passed by the same recycling bin and was pleasantly surprised with this:

Yeah, it could be due to the CNY holidays and the cleaners must be taking a break. We all need a rest don’t we?

Not any other golf adventure

What a day!! I work up late yesterday morning for my golf session with a loud “oh f**k me!!”. Instead of waking up at 6am and catching the 8am ferry, I work up at 7am (after getting Tian’s message) and needed to take the 9am ferry instead.

Its amazing how much a difference that loss of one hour can be on my way to Batam:

I needed to tear the supplementary coupon to enable my OPC car to drive after 7am costing me $20;
I had to pay to pass through the ERP gantry costing me a good $2;
I can’t speed my way through the PIE and ECP because the traffic started congesting;
A jam started before the expressway exit from the ECP;
I took me a good 10 minutes to navigate through the jam only to find out that; everyone else is going to Tanah Merah Ferry Terminal (either golfers or gamblers);
The parking lot is almost full;
The customs queue took almost forever to get through;
The 9am ferry is full of golfers and gamblers (mostly gamblers);
Yeah…you get the idea

As for the game, it was good. For $85, I get a two-way ferry, green fees, buggy, a caddie and free lunch…yes, you read right…free lunch. Life is soooo sweet!!

Although my drives went a little hook’ish and slice’ish and so were my irons I felt I might have improved a tad bit on my short game. Much thanks to my Caddie’s (I can’t for the love of all things good and pure remember his name) guidance.

One thing I did notice about my game was that my putting (which is often killing me) is getting better…all thanks to Golf magazine’s tip on changing my grip. And to top it off, I got my first birdie at a pretty intimidating par 3. Oh yes it was pure orgasmic joy. I am so looking forward to going back to the green again.

The Mambo alternative and the adventures of “Mr Dude”

Was supposed to pop over to Mambo at Zouk on Wednesday after planning about it last week. But due to some last minute casualties and fallbacks (or how Sam calls it), we popped over to Brussels Sprouts for some dinner and beer instead. There together with Sam and Kun we met Evie (Sam’s good friend) whom I have not meet since like last year or so.

Ironically, KP and Boo Kee Soh ,who massively blasted me on Tuesday night for backing out on our orignal plan to go Zouk (I have an early golf session the next day), decided not to join us for Wednesday’s dinner and beer. Seems that Boo Kee Soh needs some rest and KP had some trouble shooting and couldn’t come (yeah, try to see the double meaning here).

Of course as bitching sessions go, Kun, Evie and I learnt of some secrets about a certain “Mr Dude” from Sam and the conversation just went totally off balanced as drew our own conclusions about “The adventures of Mr Dude”. Yes it was fun and we didn’t need to develop new topics to ~~bitch~~ talk about. Thank you “Mr Dude”.

Anyways, to cut the long story short…beer was good, food was pretty good and the company is fantastic. As Angel Za puts it “its a nice feeling to catch up with lovely people over a beer or a drink”. But of course I would prefer beer

Rock never dies

I popped over to ICB with Lyn (my boo), Justin and Junn for an after drinks drink again last some Saturdays ago. As ICB session always go, it is always fun especially with friends you love and enjoy hanging out with.

However, what makes this session so special is the type of music the DJ played while we were there. Pure 80s and early 90s rock. Yeap, it was totally magical as the entire bar sang to the tunes of Teslar, Journey, Bon Jovi and a whole lot of other excellent bands I can’t recall anymore.

However, although there were a few songs that caught my attention, I was unable to retain them for long and before I knew it, I could only remember one. Here you go…

Two celebrations yesterday night at Ice Cold Beer (ICB). The important one, is the return of the ever beautiful Sam from Aussie who by the way was the person who introduced and encouraged me to start a blog. And of course, the less important (if not, completely not important at all), the return of maggot KP from ICT and three-day work in Jitpoon Land (or so he calls Japan). Yo maggie, where is my prezzie?

Its just a night of beer, whiskey, wings, pizzas, bitching, complaining, mobile phone photography and a bunch of bullying. Yeah it was bo liao but there were loads of fun…much love to you guys.

Alrightee, the quick bitch column is now back online. After being hacked earlier because I installed a Wordpress chatbox plugin and also ignoring KP’s (damn you maggot, why didn’t you convinced me to uninstall it?) advice that the plugin will compromise my blog’s security, I was forced to shut my site down for a few days to do some massive clean up.

Now that I am using a third party chatbox called The Chatterbox from Flooble, I figured I will not encounter the same messy consequences again ~crosses fingers~.

So peeps, quick…bitch away!!

Yeah, tis the day we celebrate the ever so commercial Valentine’s Day. As much as I would love to kick ‘ol Saint Valentine between the legs for creating this event and making me and a great number of guys oh so broke, I must remind myself that it is also a day I observe love…meaning no painful crotch contact…well..unless you are the type that prefers pain while you erm…PEEERVERT!!

Anyhoo, back to the subject proper. As this is the season to spread love and all that jazz, I have created a poem for my lovely boo Lyn. Okay here it goes…ahem ahem:

I felt the urge to put my feelings in writing
Because when I met you I was struck by lightning
Never shall I kiss someone else’s lips
After kissing you I have yet to come to grips

Meeting you was like winning the grand prize

Isn’t that nice? I thought through and created this alllll by myself. Oh yes I did… Alright alright…guess you saw through me…friends know that I can’t for the life of me create such poems. Guess I should fess up eh? I generated that damn thing okay? Happy?

But in all seriousness, yeah I do love my boo and yeah I would totally want to grow old with her. And yes I did my part by arranging some surprises to be delivered to her office today. But I do hope I didn’t send the wrong items as some erm…’items’ are only to be viewed in the bedroom…so I am crossing my fingers on this…kidding lah…iVeryProperOne.

And yeah…thanks to my good ‘ol friends giving me a great deal of support by showing her more love than you have ever showed me (I knew you guys longer dammit!!). You guys know who you are…I heart you all!!

Oh eh…for those guys who have totally forgot about this day and can’t get flowers, chocolates, cakes, muffins, sweets, adult toys, etc in time for your boos…pull the parachute quick and go generate them love poems here. Then pray she will bite, melt and then love you long time. Don’t say I buay gao brudder :p

I got Ella!!

Spent the whole evening backing up and upgrading my blog from Wordpress 2.0.3 to 2.1. Thank God it was a success at my first attempt and I am proud to announce that I didn’t swear or throw my keyboard, shoe, modem, graphics card, chair, etc etc…although I did drop my mouse by accident…honest!!

So after the upgrade, I took a quick 5 cent tour around my control panel and concluded that there was not much of a difference. I mean serious..nothing much changed. I was thinking of something like a flash-based content management form with a clown juggling three balls, two swords and riding on a scooter while smoking a cigarette as I wait for my articles to be published or even a simple change of colour. Yeap, I was greatly dissapointed…I mean I was really looking forward to seeing that clown.

FYI…Wordpress named their version 2.1 as Ella after the lovely Ella Fitzgerald (don’t ask me why, I have no freaking idea…not that I have anything against her anyways). So now that I am done bitching (gosh I really need to stop this), I am going to increase my quick tour to $5 instead. I am sure I can find something useful with this upgrade.
