My boy is hitched!! 2

Just under a year into his ROM, we (the Spartans Basketball Team and the Sunday Boys) witnessed Tian sealing his fate on 19 May 2007 as he and his wife Lili conducted their ceremonial wedding at the Grand Copthorne Waterfront Hotel. Yeap, talk about hitting the final nail in the coffin. But hey, we all know that Tian wears the pants in their relationship, so its not really a big deal…although Lili chooses the colour…but details…details… :P

So as the combination with weddings and the Spartans/Sunday Boys go, it is customary that we get the groom totally faced, take photos of the crime and laugh about it for years to come. Its amazing to know what damage three full bottles of Macallan 12-year-olds can do. And good to know that liver transplants are possible these days. So Spartans and Sunday Boys, click here to relive the massacre.

Oh by the way Spartans and Sunday Boys, you know I won’t be inviting y’all to my wedding…EVER..yah? ;)

“You guys are real wankers! Cheers!” – Tian’s text message to us the very next morning.

450 grams of beef…

…all stacked nicely in three thick layers!! Yeah, Lyn (my boo) and I popped over to Botak Jones again on Saturday. Interesting to note, we didn’t need to wait long before satisfying ourselves on them meat.

Left: Oh you lovely lovely meat!! | Right: Italian sausage with melted cheese and egg…mmm…

Oh oh..and I can’t tell you enough of how wonderful I think their service is. Apart from the nice Botak Jones staff asking how your experience can be improved, we do get the ocassional alerts from the kopitiam staffs…”Car park lai liao!! Car park lai liao!!…resulting in hoards of drivers rushing to renew their car park coupons. Ah yes…what a great experience at Botak Jones.

Ah ha!! I am not the only one!!

So we have all heard about the UNSW saga where the university pulled out from Singapore just three months after it began operation. So I can’t tell you how surprised I was when I saw this advertisement banner in Channel News Asia’s website yesterday morning.

Yeah, a UNSW banner still advertising proudly even after all the hoo-ha. Hey but don’t blame them. It is one of those boo boos we make as webmasters once in a while…or perhaps the advertisement contract term with the university has not expired yet. But either way its good to know I am not the only screw up around that does that ;) Phew!!

I’m bored!! Thank you Wireless@sg!!

Posted by mobile phone:
Yeah okay…I’m at Suntec City now for a workshop and am totally bored to death. If it wasn’t the beautiful Wireless@SG access here…I reckon it would be no time before I run straight for the window and jump from the 14th floor.

Guess now I can just surf around using my trusty Palm TX until this thing ends. Three more hours to go… :(

On a lighter note…it’s cool blogging with your mobile eh? ;)

Sprouting Waterspouts

My good friend Lennie sent me an email at about 3pm with this image:

Seems that the man managed to capture a good photo of a waterspout sprouting in our backyard. His photo was also featured in Stomp, which not only allocated one full page on this story but have also reported about more than 150 SMS, MMS and email alerts in a matter of a few minutes or so. A quick check on their page count showed that viewership on that story jumped from 1000+ to 3000+ in just half an hour. Its amazing how powerful new media can be.

Dinner at Baldy’s

Alrightee, I admit, I am probably one of the last horses that crossed the finishing line. However, I am not apologising for this considering that I have finally visited, ate at Botak Jones and am totally intoxicated with joy and satifaction.

Yeah that is right, after visiting Walter’s blog about how good the food is as well as my colleague Brudder Mel’s rave reviews, I figured its time we go check it out. Yes, not only were Lyn (my boo) and I not disappointed, we had a blast as we gorged down every single dish they served up, except the apple pie and Oreo cheese cake which we had to bag home.

Although it took us a good 20 odd mins to queue and place our orders at the counter, and another estimated 15 mins or so before we could savour the fine culinary skills of fine western food, it was all so worth it. And on top of that, this is the first time we have seen about 15 staffs working at one stall in a HDB heartland kopitiam. What an experience.

To those who have not tasted the wonders of very affordable and perhaps very Cajun style cooking in Singapore, you might want to give Botak Jones a go. I am pretty sure you will not be chapfallen.

Left: Yes, long queue, I kid you not!! | Right: Starting off with an Italian sausage with a side of Jalapeno and mushrooms. Oh, we had chicken gumbo too.

Our mains include Cajun chicken and fish & chips

Ikea, iLikes

Okay, so this piece of news is not really that new after all, but I still feel Ikea should be given yet another thumbs up for their no more free plastic bags/use reusable bags movement. Although I am not extremely updated with the Bring Your Own Bag (BYOB) campaign going on so far (yeah I know the irony), all I know is that Ikea is probably the first and perhaps only company that make you pay for plastic bags…period…not just on the first Wednesday of the month.

Just in case you are wondering…Yes, I did buy the big blue reusable bag. It can really hold a ton of items including a small trolley. Looking forward to taking that for my next grocery shopping…potato chips here I come!!

Another pat on Ikea’s back goes to the cheap doggy poo bag they were selling at $1.20 (or was it $1.80?) for 50 pieces. As a newly converted dog lover (not that I initally hate dogs), this experience really put Ikea a notch higher in my “Places to Really Visit” list…together with the usual St. James, Velvet, Ice Cold Beer (yeah you get the point). I can’t begin tell you how many times we need to pick up Omu’s poo poo when we take her out for walks. And I can’t imagine how much poo poo a dog can hold in there. Don’t they need space for their internal organs too? Hmmm…

Left: A section Ikea put aside to sell plastic and reusable bags | Right: A sign to remind dog owners to be considerate

Oh and since we are still in the topic of the pleasant trip to the Ikea, I still think the item “Throw Felicia” is totally wicked cool…if not then some reason for you to snigger at. If anyone knows what that item is, let me know yah? Coz I still can’t for the life of me remember what that is…I was too busy sniggering :P

Throw Felicia with a Summerslam

Seriously, I am not kidding!! I know my twin sis, Felicia is going to kill me for this, but it wouldn’t be funny if I didn’t post it. And the story goes – Lyn (my boo) and I popped over to Ikea on Sunday to pick up a shoe rack (for her shoes) when we came across this interesting item name:

Told you I wasn’t kidding..and all this for $15. What a steal!! Anyways, I was sniggering for like 10 mins while attempting to take a decent shot of this oh so picture perfect image that I completely forgot what the item was. Oh and by the way Fel, Lyn didn’t really find it funny at all. If I wasn’t so sure that she left her sense of humour at home, I would have thought that she was defending you.

Alrightee, now the serious part. Dearest sister of mine, would you like to go to the WWE – SmackDown SummerSlam Tour with me? Coz I so wanna go reminisce the good ‘ol days when we attended the first ever World Wrestling Federation tour here.  YEAH!! Old Skool baby!! And NO I am not paying for you!! Oh and I finally found my Undertaker aka Mark Calaway cap…the only souvenir we could afford back then ;)

Another victim!!

This is something you don’t see everyday. I was surfing around one of my favourite second hand mobile phone website, Mobile Square and immediately noticed that something is amiss. Seems that both icons for checking out new phones and second hand phones are missing. Thinking that it might be their webmaster’s mistake, I continued navigating their site and discovered this:

Magnified sections of the Mobile Square website indicating that their site was hacked.

Another victim of a hacker. As much as I would like to gloat, I am reminded of my own experience of being hit back in November last year. And yeah, I really really detest hackers…even more than lawyers…serious!!  Poor guys at Mobile Square. Hope their site will recover soon.

Thank you Active@ File Recovery!! Now for phase 2…

Yup, May has pretty much been a month of a disk crashing for me. First it was my 200gb external hard disk and now a 1gb XD card from my mom’s camera. I must note that the camera was a very important equipment used to visually document the Sunday Boys’ (long story) attempt to get Tian totally faced during his wedding yesterday.

So you could imagine how hysterical I became when my XD card crashed on me while transfering the images from the card reader to my computer. With that, I was produced with two options – just sit there and just cry or go find some software out there that can recover the images. Yeah, I must admit that I was pretty much going for the first option but I thought, “What the heck!!”, and went ahead for the latter.

So after combing through the net to find that perfect software, I chanced upon a program called Active@ File Recovery from Download.com. The CNET editors gave it a 4 of 5 rating which pretty much gave me the confidence that it is a thumbs up for download. To cut the long story short, after a few moments of testing the program out, I was totally sold.

It didn’t get me long to register that software and once that got out of the way, my first real test was about to begin…the confounded 200gb external hard disk. I expected complicated programs like this to take a while to get used to but in a matter of hours from scanning and recovery, I was happily accessing my folders of once lost movies, music, photos and a ton of other important information…much to my pleasant surprise.

So in a bid to get the same results for my XD card, I ran the scan and recovery once more using my card reader and BAM…the photos came out. But oh wait…most of them are corrupted. Yeah, a real anticlimactic moment for me. I was so sure of a victory for this one, but noooo..something like this have to happen. So right now, my adventure continues as I search for that perfect software to get my corrupted images out in working condition.

If any of you guys have that similar experience to mine and have uncorrupted your corrupted images, do give me a holler. Coz me and the Sunday Boys are so eager to check out those photos. Yeah I know, it is real bad to take photos of good friends while they are drunk..but what fun will that be if we don’t? ;) I know my twin sister is with me on this one :P
