WiFi at Lan Kwai Fong

Lyn (my boo] and I are sitting at Hong Kong’s Lan Kwai Fong preparing to celebrate the turn of the year and our 2-year anniversary.

Interesting to note tho…the entire clubbing and pubbing area is all WiFi enabled…how cool is that ;) .

Not too sure if Singapore’s Boat Quay, Clarke Quay or other drinking areas also went wireless. If it is…be prepared to see me blogging at a whole new level. By that time I would probably be so wasted and writing crap so I guess I may be losing a few regular visitors. Maybe I should go easy before I start blogging eh? :P

Anyhoo…Happy New Year all!! :)

Greetings from Hong Kong

This is probably my last blog entry for the year. I am now in my motel located at Patterson Road, and blogging away using the free Internet connection here and I am loving it. So far, Hong Kong has been a really nice place to be at.

The weather is really cooling, allowing me to wear my seldom worn jacket, the food has been excellent and the shopping scene…well…let’s say I am already close to broke. This is one of the places I must admit I am reluctant to leave.

I need to make this quick as we are about to hit Lan Kwai Fong for our New Year and anniversary count down. So here’s wishing you a very good and very Prosperous New Year and seriously…may 2008 be a really successful and fruitful year ahead. Till we meet again… ;)

Hello Hong Kong

For those who don’t already know, I will be heading to Shenzhen and Hong Kong in a few hours time, and to play the role of a caddy for Lyn (my boo). Yeap, from what I gathered, her itinerary had indicated a ton of shopping places and I am, for the lack of a better word, pretty much f**ked. Let’s just say I will be contributing a huge chunk of my year-end bonus to the Hong Kong economy.

Although we will be bringing our laptop over, I am not too sure how the wireless situation is there so I can’t guarantee popping over once in a while and blogging my experiences away. If my internet connectivity fails, here’s wishing you a wonderful new year and I will see you when I return on 5th Jan 2008… ;)

Christmas Service

Lyn (my boo) and I yesterday popped over to the DBS Auditorium for an afternoon of Christmas service and to witness a play organised by my sister’s church, Singapore Charismatic Church. Serene, who is one of the lead, played the role of Sarah, during the biblical times “who spent her livelihood on doctors to heal her illness to no avail, only to receive complete healing from a touch of Jesus”.

Titled ‘Just One Touch”, the story also ties in together with “a real-life testimony of a sister whose gambling habit spiraled out of control, but found forgiveness and redemption through a touch of Jesus”. So yeah, we get two different stories but focus. Pretty interesting eh?

My brother-in-law, Geoffrey was stuck behind the piano the whole time, so we didn’t really get to see him at all. Honestly speaking, I wanted to pop over to the piano to take a photo of him but it would seriously be a cause of concern to the organisers as it would mean getting up to the stage in the middle of the play. Not a good idea… :P

Yeah, its one of the things Lyn and I do during Christmas, which is to attend my sister’s church. Being out of the church action for a couple of years now, I do get this refreshing feeling whenever I attend my sister’s church services. Guess we are missing out on something eh? But that is another story. More pictures in my Flickr album.

Heaven 2.0

Was reading Straits Times’ Digital Life this morning and the comic of the day from Close to Home had me cracking up for a while. Sure it may be a two-month old comic, but how can I not like this considering that I am still exploring the world of Web 2.0 ;)

Christmas eve @ the Brew

Shortly after my Christmas party at the office, I popped over to Brewerkz at Riverside Point and met up with KP, Lennie, (Chunky) Beefy and Lyn (my boo) for a some fresh brew. As usual, the bunch of us turned up late while Beefy was on time. Kun did not turn up (surprise? not really…), a practice we kinda got used to after multiple events of no show, but hey, we still love him long time.

After about 10 or so pints, Lyn and I staggered home and went to bed..that is about 6pm. Our plans to party on at Zouk went bust…we couldn’t wake up… ;) . More photos in my Flickr album.

Christmas eve @ the office

My division had a little get together to celebrate Christmas and the joy of having peace in the office without the bosses. Organised by Harry (aka Harold), with food prepared by Cheryl, a log cake sponsored by my boss Angela and other little party preparations chipped in by us, we kicked off the celebration with gift exchange.

Picking a number from a pouch, we proceed to the gift area to pick up the presents tagged with our respective numbers. Of course prior to that, we were supposed to purchase an item not more than $10 for the gift exchange. Being cheats that we are, some of us bought stuffs beyond the budget going into the early or late $20 (including me)…but that is to our advantage…well…the receivers that is.

Eddy (aka Edrick) picked up my gift which was a Dilbert 2008 calendar and I can’t tell you how much the gift compliments his perception of working in our organisation. He is one of those people among us that would appreciate such gifts (i.e. Dilbert stuffs), the other person..is me… :P . As for me, I got my gift from Andy, which is a huge cushion that I really needed for my chair. Unfortunately, it is so freaking big, I think I might need to leave it in office for a while until one of my colleague sends me back. Till then, I am stuck with the big ass cushion in my office.

Cheryl prepared some really wicked curry chicken and dipping our french loaves in it tasted like heaven. Accompanied by wine, buns, chocolates, biscuits, bee hoon and a ton of other food, lunch with respected peers can’t get any better than that. Guess if there is one thing I believe my colleagues can agree on, is the fact that although the bunch of us may come from all walks of life, we are closely knitted. One of those “work together, die together” divisions. Yeah, I am loving these people, can’t say the same about my organisation though ;) . More photos in my Flickr album.

Playing Santa Claus @ the office

Its one of those things I do every time during this season…get some of my colleagues a nice little gift for Christmas. Lyn (my boo) and I did some shopping at a supermarket last Saturday and got them the same gift. In view that quite a number of us have been down with the flu bug, we got everybody a bottle of honey, fruit tea bags and some crackers. Thanks to Lyn who spent the whole of last night sorting and wrapping the gifts while I was away at Li Yen’s wedding dinner. Love you long time babe.. :)

As usual, my colleagues woud whine about how low cost my gifts are and how they would prefer, as I would say it, high-end ’sh**”. I would just wish them a Merry Christmas with a smile and show them ‘the bird’ before walking off to the next whiny colleague.
