As a partial pet owner, I have always made sure that both our Malteses, Milky and Omu never bothered anyone while taking them out for a walk. The proper ettiquette includes leashing our dogs, bringing a doo-doo bag and even allowing kids, elderly and those afraid of dogs to either walk ahead of us or pass us as we step aside before continuing our journey. Heck, these are the habits dog owners should abide to and more. So I guess you would understand how pissed I was when I found out that my niece was bitten by a dog and the help (maid) taking care of it didn’t care to apologies.
Last Sunday, my sister took her little daughters Anne and Beth for a nice walk around my estate. The routine was simple, just let the kids run around the open space while my sister keeps an eagle eye on them. There, a help was standing chatting with another help while holding on to the leash as the dog just sat there. As my Anne approached it with caution to take a look at the dog, the dog just ran up and bit her leg.
Anne stood there shocked as my sister who was already approaching her to caution her about approaching the dog ran towards her. The maid just unknowingly turned around and shouted “OOOOI” before leaving with a huff. A few seconds later, blood dripped and my niece cried. My sister hurried her home and tended to her leg. Although it was rather a minor bite, it left a nasty bite marks on her and adding to the wound, a sudden fear for dogs (at least for the day).
Poor Anne… 
So dear dog owner, if I ever find out who your pet is, rest assured your dog will remember my niece’s misery. To the other dog owners out there, please watch your dog, there are enough reports out there about errant pet owners paying no mind to the people around them. Leashing them is not enough, watch them!!
